Tom Geiger Guest House, Inc. owns and operates four apartment buildings that provide transitional and permanent housing -- 24 one, two and three bedroom transitional housing apartments in two buildings on the same campus, 12 two bedroom 100% A.D.A. compliant permanent housing apartments for the disabled in another building on the same campus, and 6 more two and three bedroom permanent housing apartments in another building at a separate nearby location.
Tom Geiger Guest House (TGGH) serves homeless persons in coordination with fellow member agencies of the Cincinnati / Hamilton County Continuum of Care for the Homeless, Inc.


Transitional Housing Program
In a longstanding partnership with the YWCA of Greater Cincinnati, TGGH provides transitional housing along with comprehensive supportive services for victims of domestic violence who are single women or women with children.  They come to TGGH where they seek relief from poverty, neglect and abuse. They come to TGGH to build a brighter future by completing their education or job training and to stabilize their lives.

As a participant in the YWCA Transitional Living Program (TLP), typically the homeless female head of household and her children occupy a TGGH apartment for a period of up to 18 months as they transition from the YWCA battered women’s emergency shelters to permanent housing and independent living.  Transitional housing program fees assessed for living at the Geiger House are 30% of adjusted gross income. 

In addition to a furnished apartment in a safe and secure building, TGGH provides kitchen and household items at intake.  Disposable household supplies are replenished monthly for all residents.  Through the further generosity of our donors and volunteers over the years, TGGH provides a number of amenities so that the women and their children experience a more homelike and community atmosphere.  Residents have access to an outdoor playground and indoor playroom constructed and furnished by the financial and volunteer support of our donor / volunteer network who also have contributed to developing and maintaining our facilities and grounds.  Donated clothing, toys and books also are available to all residents.  

During their time in TGGH transitional housing the YWCA TLP provides job readiness training, counseling and advocacy along with case management services to realize our joint intended outcome of permanent housing and independence at the end of each woman’s stay.  The overall success rate on our measured outcomes is remarkably high.  For our joint #1 outcome measure, the attainment of permanent housing at program exit, the TGGH transitional housing / YWCA TLP partnership has seen over 75% of the women successfully move into permanent housing, and most of them remain in their housing for at least six months following exit.
